This is a very personal part of the game. What one player likes another may dislike.  For example I prefer to use a Riffle flighted 60, with a forged club to give me the feel. That's why I use the Callaway X-22 irons.

Golf balls are also personal preference. I truly believe that the Callaway iz Tour is the  best ball for my game. With all of the different conditions that we must play in from cold to very hot. It is great in the wind, and fantastic around the greens.
