I have a couple of ways to make the ball stop quicker.
- To get more back spin on a shot is to make sure that you get a clean hit
on the ball and no grass gets between the ball and club.
- Also the steeper you can swing the club, the sharper angle the club with
hitting the ball and therefore putting more spin on the ball.
- If the green has a little slope on it from either Left>Right or
Right>Left, you may try to work it into the slope on the green.
- Try working the ball flight into the wind, this will have an impact on how
quick the ball will stop.
- If on the teeing ground always use a tee, even if it is only just above
the grass.
All of the above will help the ball will stop quicker.
If you still have trouble with getting no back spin. You might want to try a
set of square groove or box groove clubs. With square or box grooves the grass
goes into the grooves giving a cleaner hit with the ball & club, therefore
giving you more spin than with traditional V grooves. |
